Dave Nevison's horse racing tips: Three best bets for Musselburgh and Kempton

Our website tipster believes it will be a successful trip to Scotland for Paul Nicholls on Wednesday. Watch how his selections fare live on Racing TV.

1.50 Musselburgh: Eva’s Diva at a general 5-1

This mare failed to land a gamble on her stable debut last time out but would certainly have gone closer to doing so had she not made a bad mistake four out.

She recovered from that blunder at Fakenham to get back to the leaders, but then her stamina seemed to run out close home.

She is on another sharp track here, which will suit, but a drop down in trip is also certain to help her.

She has the sort of profile I very much like in a handicapper in that she has shown useful form, and has run off higher marks in the past.

Her new trainer, who is in excellent form, has also changed a couple of things around in applying a tongue strap for the first time, as well as experimenting with the trip.

Two and a half miles looks a sensible move and Kielan Woods, who rode a winner for the yard on Monday, is retained to ride the selection who has now produced two good efforts with him on board.

4.05 Musselburgh: Get The Appeal at a general 5-4

I find it difficult not to tip horses trained by Paul Nicholls when he sends runners to Scotland, and he will have three favourites on Wednesday afternoon.

This one bids to follow up her handicap victory here over a slightly shorter distance last time out, and I certainly don’t feel the extra two furlongs will be against her.

On a course where front runners do well, she certainly seemed to benefit from making her own running last time and it looks highly likely that she will lead again here plus the opposition is not exceptional.

She showed a winning attitude last time and I believe a mark of 115 should be manageable under ideal conditions.

4.45 Kempton: Assimilation at a general 9-2

Assimilation has a 2lb pull with Sky Defender after finishing three places behind that rival when fifth last time out, which is increased to a 7lb pull if Joanna Mason’s claim is factored in as well.

The weight differential will certainly help, but I think a bigger factor is the likelihood of a stronger pace here, and that is what I believe could tip the balance.

Assimilation is a more frequent winner than Sky Defender and represents a stable in good form.

Since turning professional, Joanna Mason has impressed me greatly from a limited number of rides. The ten-furlong trip is ideal for her mount and I do not anticipate any problems with the track.
